Makerere University has postponed exams for final year students to a date not yet disclosed.
Makerere University, academic registrar Alfred Masikye Namoah on Thursday in a letter to all students at the University noted that the exams that were due to start on Friday and Saturday, had been postponed after consultation with the university.
“After consultations with Makerere University management, this is to inform all students and other stakeholders that examinations scheduled for Friday, November 20 and Saturday, November 21, 2020, have been postponed. New dates for the conduct of the postponed examinations will be communicated later,” Namoah stated.
Sources in the University management noted that the prevailing political situation and chaos prompted by the arrest of FDC flag bearer Patrick Oboi Amuriat and NUP leader Robert Kyagulanyi and the riots around the university did not set a conducive environment for the students to sit for their exams.
Sources also quoted the lack of written government clearance to allow continuing students to return to campus for examinations as a reason for the postponement.
