Mbale City Suspends Road Works over Death of Contractor’s Engineer

Mbale City has today, 9th November, 2022 announced a temporary suspension of ongoing road works in the City following the death of one of Dott services Engineer after being knocked dead by a company tractor.


On Monday, 7th November, 2022 one of the staff attached to Dott services, the company currently constructing roads in Mbale city was knocked to death on spot by one of their tractors at Cathedral avenue road during work.


While speaking to the media today in a press conference at Mbale city chambers, Kasimu Namugali, the Mbale City Mayor said that the suspension of works is in the spirit of grieving together with the family and company of the deceased.


He added that works will resume after burial.


David Wetaka, the chairperson of City Development Forum (CDF) cautioned the public against spreading information that the accident was intentional.


Police has however, till today not given a statement on circumstances surrounding the death.


James Kutosi, the public relations officer of Mbale city has called for calm among Mbale city residents saying works will soon resume and all roads which were under construction will be accomplished in appropriate time.
