Member of Parliament Arrested For Flouting Covid-19 Guidelines

ARRAIGNED IN COURT AFTER SPENDING 2 NIGHTS IN THE COOLERS

A Member of Parliament representing Bulambuli County in Bulambuli district has been arrested for breaking the Presidential directives relating to the prevention of Covid-19.

 

Alex Burundo was arrested on Saturday night after he was found leading a celebratory procession of his supporters past 10:00pm well beyond the curfew time.

 

According to John Muhangi, the district police commander of Bulambuli, Burundo was arrested while leading a big procession 10.00 PM which is beyond curfew time and neglecting social distance directives.

 

Burundo was celebrating after the Kampala NRM office finally declared him NRM Flag bearer for Bulambuli county MP seat.

 

Initially, the NRM district electoral commission had declared Isaac Mutenyo the winner.

 

Muhangi also confirmed that the legislator with his ten supporters was transferred to Mbale central police station waiting to answer charges of breaking covid19 heath guidelines.

However Suzan Nambuba and James Wenani his supporters have described the arrest as selective and politically motivated.

 

This morning, Monday the 12th October, our snoops landed on the Honorable being transported back to Sironko from where he will be arraigned in court.
