The State Minister for Agriculture has threatened to arrest district leaders and head teachers in Busoga region for mishandling school nutrition programmes.
The school nutrition programme is meant to promote proper feeding in schools.
Aggrey Bagiire sounded the warning while touring the banana nutrition garden project at Namunsala primary school in Namungalwe Sub County in Iganga district on Thursday 25th June 2020.
He said the garden had been neglected and only attended to after they learnt of his visit.
The programme is aimed at enhancing proper feeding among children and pregnant mothers through schools and its being funded by the World Bank Programme.
In Busoga, the programme is being piloted in the districts of Iganga, Namutumba and Bugiri.
The MP for Kigulu North, Fred Bwiino Kyakulaga who accompanied the Minister said if the programme is to make a positive impact, government should consider irrigation programme during dry spells.
The Minister paid a courtesy visit to Namunsala HC where health workers told him the project has helped them link with the people in their villages as they sensitize them about the importance of good feeding.
The Minister was in the company of the RDC Eva Nalongo Kwesiga and other officials from the Ministry of Agriculture.
