The common problem of lack of value addition to the Teso agricultural produce will soon be history as construction of another processing factory is underway.

The construction of Teso foods limited at palm close, at the Soroti industrial and business investment park will now solve the equation of value addition which for long has been a reason behind low prices and poor marketing.

According to the chairman board of directors Teso foods limited Capt. Mike Mukula, the construction of the factory will soon be complete and it will directly employ over 600 people and this will solve the employment problems.

Capt. Mike Mukula said the factory will be processing agricultural produce, processing fruits, making of sanitizer and other drinks like Spirits among others.

He further stressed that Teso foods limited will indirectly employ thousands of farmers who will then be supplying the factory with agricultural produce,

He called on the people of Teso and neighboring regions to double up their efforts in taking up citrus farming as a productive venture and also cautioned the farmers to get prepared for the rainy season.

Mukula who also doubles as the NRM national vice chairperson for eastern region revealed that he has relived himself from active politics and now his role is to rally the people of Teso on poverty eradication and improvement of livelihoods through improved farming and embracing government programs like operation wealth creation among others.

He adds that now politics is over, people should now focus on productive ventures not politicking and lamenting.

“Time of lamenting is over,” said flamboyant Mukula.

This brings to 3, the number of processing factories in the Teso Sub region; the Soroti Fruits factory which is operational and the two under construction.

He called upon other sons and daughters of Teso in the diaspora to come and invest home.
