Tororo District Resident commissioner, RDC Nixon Owole became the first district official to receive Oxford Astra Zeneca COVID 19 vaccine in the district.
Owole who led by example was launching the vaccination in the district yesterday 15th March 2021 after the district received7770 doses.
Owole while launching the vaccination exercise quashed all allegations that Oxford Astra Zeneca vaccine is not good for human consumption due to its unproven side effects.
Owole noted that no country will ever think of exterminating its population more so the health workers who are the first beneficiaries.
Speaking during the launch, Tororo district health officer, David Okumu said they have received 7770 doses of Astra Zeneca and many other related accompaniments, like field guides, syringes, and consent forms.
Okumu also revealed that they have set up 5 administering units in Tororo general hospital, Osukuru health III and in Mukuju, Mulanda and Nagongera health Center IVs.
He further revealed that the vaccine will first be given to all health workers, then to teachers and later to citizens above 50 years plus those with complications like cancer, Diabetes, and hypertension.
Unlike other vaccines, Okumu says this one will only be given to people who have consented to the set principals.
Before receiving the vaccine, Tororo district Chief Administrative officer, CAO Dunstan first prayed for the vaccine not to react negatively to anybody going to receive it from Tororo district.
He then advised the people of Tororo district to continue following the set SOPs even after receiving the vaccine so that they may not give Providence to anything.
Among those who received the vaccine include, the Tororo district secretary production Francis Olweny, the secretary education Samuel Odongo, deputy CAO Samuel Okwir, and Tororo RDC Nixon Owole.
