Police in Iganga are holding three People Power Supporters for sounding saucepans as a sign of asking government for food.
The three were picked up from Saza Road, Ngobi Road and the Post Bank Iganga branch holding saucepans demanding government for food.
Opposition leaders Kiiza Besigye of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and People Power Pressure Group and Kyandondo East Member of Parliament, Robert Kyagulanyi recently while addressing a press conference requested all opposition supporters to sound saucepans to put government on pressure to provide food.
Police had to fire tear gas and live bullets in the air to disperse angry youths who had started pelting stones at security personnel during the chaos.
One of those arrested was identified as Denis Waiswa an aspirant for Member of Parliament Iganga Municipality.
The District Police Commander Iganga, (DPC) Davis Ndawula vowed to arrest any person involved in acts of sounding saucepans saying they are disrupting people’s work.
Ndawula said police was still hunting for more people believed to have incited the people to riot by sounding saucepans.
