The Soroti District Resident Commissioner (RDC) who also doubles as the head of Security in the district has revealed that Soroti District security committee has decided to gazette more police stations in order to help in managing crime and combating terror.

Speaking to Journalists at his office on Wednesday morning, 24th November 2021, Mr. Patrick Okumu said that they have decided to create new police station in the new sub counties that were recently curbed.

Soroti district has a total of 12 sub counties and according to Okumu all the sub counties will be equipped with a police post that he believes will help in eliminating crime and terror.

He said that with the help of police headquarters, they have gotten a new District Police Commander and other junior Officers whom he said will be working closely with the members of the public.

He appeals to the Soroti community to join hands in working with security to combat terror and crime.

“Be informers of Security and I appeal to bus operators to have metal detectors,” he appealed.

He also asked Ugandans not to panic noting that the government is in charge and all attempts by terrorists will be combated.
