One of Teso’s most prominent musicians on Saturday 04/05/2019 left many in surprise after he opted to celebrate 50 years of his life in style.
Lazarus Okwakol, the blind eyed ‘akongo’ strummist celebrated his 50 years at Liquid Gardens in Kumi Municipality.
The event attracted a big number of fans that included top country officials, musicians and was sponsored by a chain of organizations.
Amongst the top country officials was the NRM Vice Chairperson for Eastern Uganda Hon. Capt Mike Mukula who praised the singer for his great music.
Mukula also delivered a handsome sum of money that was offered by the Head of State (H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni) to the disabled artist worth Shs30M.
In his message, President Museveni wished Okwakol well saying he appreciates the Musicians contribution towards peace and development through his educative music.
The Former Minister of Teso Affairs, Hon. Christine Aporu appreciated the singer for his good music that has been educative to the community and further described him as one who is loving, social and respects the ideas of development.
The singer continued receiving Brown envelopes as other local artists salivated and were also planning to set up their own birth day parties.
The Woman Member of Parliament for Bukedea District, Hon. Anita Among pledged to take the Lazarus’ music to another level and also left him smiling with Shs500,000 envelop.
Other top artists from Teso who graced the occasion were Genious Drey, Rody Gavana and they rocked fans with their hits till morning.
