Uganda Christian University, Mbale College has started a fundraising campaign to raise Shs1.8 billion for the construction of a modern stadium and computer laboratory.
While speaking to media today during a press briefing at Mbale campus, Elisa Higenyi, the acting principal of Uganda Christian University, Mbale collage says that the real fundraising campaign is going to be launched on Friday this week by the President of Uganda at the University campus.
He adds that after the launch, they expect different categories of business people, other universities, community members, churches, government officers among others to support them in raising this money.
Higenyi also says that they have already acquired land near neighboring Nabuyonga primary school where this stadium will be constructed to promote sports such as football, athletics among others.
Higenyi revealed that the stadium when completed will be used by UCU students and other Ugandans for developing their sports talents such that Uganda can be put on the world map.
Paulo Mulema, the Accountant Uganda Christian University Mbale College also says that they expect to procure 300 computers that will be installed in the modern constructed computer lab.
He also says that people willing will send their money through mobile money, university bank account or bring hard cash to his office.
