Local council one and two chairpersons in Kalaki District Kakure Sub County have been challenged to return the old stamps to the Sub County authority before they receive the new ones.

The State Minister for Local Government, Hon Jenipher Namuyangu on 4th March 2021 commissioned the new stamps for local council one and two’s in Teso and Karamoja.

On Tuesday 16th March 2021, the Kakure Sub County authority district embarked on distributing them to the leaders across the 18 villages in the Sub County.

Simon Egangu, the Assistant Chief Administrative Officer Kakure made it a must for every local council leader to present the old stamps before they could be given new modern stamps.

He cautioned them to use the stamps for the purpose they are meant for and desist from using it as a business tool.

Denis Ecwou, the local council one chairperson Ojele village while in a phone interview with our reporter, appreciated the intervention by the government for the new modern stamps.

He however asked the government to provide them with offices where they can keep their records and permanent address.

The stamps are an initiative of the President who directed the Ministry of Local Government to procure standardized stamps to all the leaders in the 70,000 villages in Uganda.

The stamps that cost Uganda 3.9Billion are self-inking with security features that cannot be forged.
