IGANGA
Police in Iganga have arrested a 40 year old peasant farmer for defiling his niece aged 13 years.
The accused, Gaiyima Waiswa, a peasant farmer in Bwanalira village, Bulamagi Sub County reportedly lured the victim, a primary three pupil at Buwasa primary school into sex with a bottle of soda.
The accused is a nephew to the victim and two have been staying together.
The mother to the victim, Mariam Nabirye said the accused threatened to kill the victim if she informed any one about the incident after committing the crime.
Nabirye said she has fears the accused could have infected the victim with HIV/AIDS during the sexual intercourse.
The District Police Commander (DPC) Iganga, Kenneth Muheirwe said investigations into the matter were still underway.
Muheirwe cautioned parents against entrusting their daughters with any one even if it is a relative to avoid similar incidents.
The case has been registered under SD-06-28-204-2021 at Iganga Central Police Station.
