IGANGA
Police in Iganga are on a thorough search for a lost AK47 that was
lost by one of the Prison Warders while on duty.

The lost gun is said to have disappeared from one Lutaaya Samuel last week who was sleeping while on duty.

“He says he lost the gun while taking a nap. That the gun was nowhere to be found on waking up”, one prison Warder who preferred anonymity noted.
Police have since detained Lutaaya and embarked on searching the entire prisons and staff quarters for the officers.

We have also established that the said gun was loaded with rounds of
ammunition which has caused tension especially about what the intention could be for stealing the arm.

“We have the officer in custody. Investigations are ongoing. We really have to find out how the arm disappeared and who took it and for what reason” the RPC Busoga East, Region Anatoli Katungwesi  said.

Meanwhile, one prisoner escaped from the officers while in a garden.
The prisoner whose names have been withheld escaped when the prisoners were let out together with officers to work on a plantation.

The prisoner however took off, disappearing from the officers.
Police have also noted that the hunt for the escapee is on, and so are the investigations into the escape.
