ALEBTONG

The LC V Chairman Alebtong District has said that the district has most civil servants earning their salaries yet they have absconded and abandoned their offices.

David Kennedy Odongo made the revelation yesterday 13th September 2021 while welcoming the new RDC, Robert Adiama, the former Resident City Commissioner (R.C.C) Soroti City. Adiama replaces Suleiman Barasa Ogajo who was transferred to Namayingo District as the RDC.

Odongo tasked the Office of Chief Administration Officer (C.A.O) Alebtong District to explain the prevailing circumstances.

He noted that about five officers in health and education departments of Alebtong district have abandoned their offices.

He pointed out the sub accountant, Tom Okori of Abako Sub County in the district of Alebtong whom he alleged to have left his office for the last three years and now works with some NGO in Lira but still earning salary for no service rendered to the people of Alebtong District.

Odongo directed the police and the new RDC who doubles as the chairman of security in the district to investigate that matter and fight the injustice of corruption.

Meanwhile, the deputy CAO of the district, Doreen Khakusuma said the chairman raised the matter in a wrong forum arguing that the chairman should have contacted her officer first. She however pledged to follow up the matter.
