Construction of an Industrial Park in Iganga has been greatly boosted after the district authorities finally secured 150 acres of land in Namungalwe Sub County to accommodate it.
The LC 5 chairman Iganga, Ezra Gabula said the construction of the Industrial Park had been delayed because the district had earlier failed to secure land to accommodate it.
Gabula made the revelation yesterday 27th September 2021, while addressing local religious leaders during a meeting held at the Iganga municipal council headquarters.
“Now that we have got the land where the Park will sit, am confident construction work will kick off very soon,” he said.
Gabula said the State Minister for Investment, Evelyn Anite is to soon tour the 150 acres of land to ascertain whether its conducive enough to set up an Industrial Park.
President Yoweri Museveni while on a campaign trail in the district in 2016 pledged to construct an Industrial Park in the area to reduce on unemployment especially amongst youths.
Gabula said construction of the industrial park that will assemble vehicles will help create employment opportunities to over 15,000 graduate youths in the district.
