The Inspectorate of Government (IG) has arrested the former Principal Hospital Administrator of Arua Regional Referral hospital, Peter Okello Odeke, for embezzlement, abuse of office and false accounting.
Odeke was arrested with the former Hospital Accountant at the hospital, Anthony Okisa today 17th December 2021.
The Regional Inspectorate Officer Arua, Comboni Oyet, confirmed the arrest of the two.
‘The two officers had been accused of embezzling sh28m meant to carry out various programs at the hospital,’ he said.
He explained that Odeke was the then Principal Hospital Administrator before he was transferred to Mbarara when investigations into alleged embezzlement and false accounting had kicked off.
“Meanwhile Okisa was the Accountant who was the custodian of the monies and was involved in the withdraw of the same,” Oyet explained further.
The IG officer said the two are currently being held in Kampala and will be arraigned in courts of law.
