The Uganda Bus Operators Association has revised bus fares including for the Eastern route effective 4th January 5, 2022.
The revision according to a circular seen by this reporter dated 4th January 5, 2022 is in line with the Presidential directive permitting transporters to operate at 100% capacity.
There has been a nationwide outcry that transporters continued charging passengers the old rates when they were operating at 50%.
THE NEW RATES
Kampala to Mbale 30,000
Kampala to Iganga 20,000
Kampala to Jinja 15,000
Kampala to Kachumbala 30,000
Kampala to Bukedea 35,000
Kampala to Kumi 35,000
Kampala to Soroti 35,000
Kampala to Serere 45,000
Kampala to Katakwi 40,000
Kampala to Moroto 60,000
Kampala to Amuria 45,000
These rates according to the circular were supposed to have come into effect on 1st January 2022 but the letter was only signed yesterday.
When this reporter visited the Bus Park Mbale, YY Coaches was indeed charging Shs30,000 to Kampala.
