Police in Mbale city are holding two people on suspicion of stealing a gun from a police officer attached to Mbale Central Police Station.
The suspects are identified as Husain Mafabi aged 28 and Musa Safe aged 40 years, both residents of Mbale City were arrested yesterday 17th January, 2022.
According to Rogers Taitika, the Elgon region police spokesperson, the two grabbed a pestle gun from Samson Okello, a police officer attached to Mbale CPS last week along Bishop Wasike road in Mbale city and took off with it.
He adds that by use of CCTV cameras installed in Mbale city and intelligence officers, they managed to trace the two and later arrested them yesterday 17th January 18, 2022.
Taitika also says they recovered the stolen pestle and other 15 rounds of ammunition adding that they are still holding them at Mbale CPS.
