Elephant Tramples Egyptian National to Death at Murchison Falls National Park

An Egyptian national has been reported killed by an angry elephant at Murchison Falls National Park.

 

Ayman Sayed Ahmed Mohammad Elshahawy, male adult aged 45 years, a resident of Lira Town met his untimely death on 25th/01/2022 at 11:30am.

 

According to sources, the incident happened on the 25th/01/2022 at around 1130 hours when the deceased and 3 others namely Alkalabi Mohammad Shalon and Almazargha Sayeed Fahad were traveling from Masindi to Arua in a motor vehicle registration number UBJ 917C Toyota Wish via Murchison Falls National Park.

 

It is reported that when they reached Pakuba area, the deceased came out of the motor vehicle to urinate, however an elephant started chasing him until the elephant grabbed him with its trunk and killed him by being trampling on him several times.

 

According to SP Angucia Josephine, the Police PRO of West Nile, inquiries have been instituted after the scene of incident was visited by police team led by DPC Pakwach, a sketch plan was drawn and photographed, and statements were recorded from witnesses.

 

The body was taken to Mulago National Referral Hospital Mortuary in Kampala for postmortem. Inquiries continue into the matter.
