More than 2000 Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) refugees have crossed into Uganda after Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels attacked Nobil, Kamango and Jiampande trading centres on Wednesday night.
The places attacked are about 5km away from the Ugandan border point of Busunga.
By 10 pm Wednesday, over 2000 Congolese had crossed into Uganda via different crossing points to seek refuge.
Ugandans with relatives in the DRC are currently gathering at Busunga border to search for their Congolese relatives following reports that an unspecified number of people had been killed by the rebels.
The army had not issued a statement at the time of publishing this report.
