The Minister of Health has urged stakeholders, religious and political leaders to rally people to attend the ongoing countrywide Covid-19 vaccination.
Ruth Jane Acheng made the call yesterday 2nd February 2022 while launching covid19 vaccination at Elgon region held at Manafwa district head offices.
According to Acheng, only 4.9% of the population has been fully vaccinated with both doses and 51% vaccinated with one dose.
She argued that the vaccinated number is very small yet government wants to kick covid19 out of Uganda since the economy has been fully opened.
Acheng appealed to political, religious and cultural leaders to support government by rallying people to go and get vaccinated at their nearest centers if the targeted population is to be covered by the end of this year.
Diana Atwine, the Permanent Secretary Ministry Of Health also says that they have launched 1.6 million doses which are going to vaccinate people in Elgon region saying that if they are over government is willing to add more.
She warned people who are giving false information about the vaccines on social media saying they will be followed, arrested and taken to court.
