Three people have perished in a fatal accident that occurred early today’s morning at Kasile village, Iriiri Parish, Iriiri Sub-county, in Napak District.
The accident involved an MV Reg. No. UBA 005 U, Canter, green in Colour driven by an unknown driver who is currently on the run.
According to AIP Longole Mike, Ag PRO Mt. Moroto, preliminary investigations indicate that the vehicle was moving along Soroti-Moroto road when its headlamp lights went off, causing it to lose control and overturn on the eastern side of the road near an orange orchard.
The three deceased Passengers who died on the spot have been identified as Atino Sarah, Okello Joseph, and Alebo Margret all residents of Amuria District while five survivors were evacuated to Matany Hospital for treatment where they are nursing injuries.
By press time, the OC traffic Napak and his team had visited the crime scene where they reconstructed the scene and kicked off with investigations where they recorded statements from the victims who are still alive and towed the MV and parked it at Iriiri Police station pending IOV inspection as the search for the driver is ongoing.
The three bodies were later taken to Matany Hospital mortuary for postmortem though it is suspected that over speeding and headlamp lights which went off caused the accident.
