Police in Mbale city have arrested a 47 year old woman to help with investigations over the death of her husband, who committed suicide last night, 9th February 2022.
The suspect is identified as Irene Nelima and the husband as Moses Wagidebo popularly known as Kizigo aged 50 years, both residents of Namakwekwe ward, Northern city division in Mbale city.
According to Rogers Taitika, the Elgon region police spokesperson, Wagidebo is suspected to have hanged himself today night on a tree in his compound and was removed by his wife who cut the rope.
He adds that after removing him from the tree they tried to rush him to Mbale regional referral hospital but he later died.
Taitika also says that an angry mob wanted to lynch Nelima suspecting her of being behind the death of the husband.
The body is at Mbale city mortuary for postmortem whereas Nelima is still being detained at Mbale police station to help police with investigations.
