Soroti District Local Government has received a total of 413 Bicycles meant for LC-I and LC-II chairpersons of the district.
The consignment of the Bicycles was on Friday morning, 11th February 2022 delivered to the district headquarters from the Ministry of Local government to aid the leadership activities in the local communities.
According to the Soroti district communication officer, Abraham Ekwaru, all the LC-1s chairpersons of the 359 villages and LC-II chairpersons of 54 Parishes will be given the bicycles.
Meanwhile Ekwaru says the district will officially distribute the bicycles to the respective LC-1 and L-11s chairperson after a directive to do so.
Patrick Okumu, the RDC Soroti says the bicycles are a Presidential pledge honor.
Ekwaru says that in the letter written by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Local government, Ben Kumumanya, districts are asked to keep the bicycles safe.
