Residents of Namungodi town council in Busia district are smiling ear to ear like a proverbial dog after being donated water points and food.

These were donated by UHUD, a Turkey based NGO and Sakarya African Volunteers, a Ugandan registered NGO on 4th April 2022.

UHUD has constructed solar water pumps and taps all over the town council and Busia at large.

Celebrations were all over the place when the commissioning of a new mosque and water point by the two partner NGO’s in Namungodi town council took place.

Addressing the press, the Executive director UHUD, Murat Akyuz noted that they have operations all over Uganda and have invested in several other sectors of the economy to help the Ugandan nationals.

“We have not only donated water points and food; we have also constructed schools where we are educating over 600 orphans. We also hope to open hospitals because we know there are people in areas far from where they can access government health facilities. We hope to extend hospitals to such people,” he said adding that these can be accessed by all people irrespective of their religion.

“I am grateful to the Turks for the water points. We used to walk over 20km to the nearest water point. The Turks have however brought the water point just a stone throw away,” a happy resident, Naudo Aisha said.

The residents at the mosque commissioning were in addition given 5kgs of posho and shillings 5000 each.

The leader of Sakarya African Volunteers, Halil Alemdar thanked the Busia local government for the cooperation and support in helping the people of Busia.

He added that plans are on to erect a mega youth skilling Centre in Mbale.
