A 45 year old man identified has committed suicide by poison inside an Iganga Lodge.
The deceased whom police managed to identify as Elvis Ogwal committed suicide on Tuesday having spent three days in Blue Moon Guest House at Old Market Street in Iganga Municipality.
Police in Iganga are still investigating circumstances under which Ogwal committed suicide in the lodge.
Ogwal is said to have been keeping indoors all day and night for the 3 days he spent there.
‘He could however come out for breakfast, lunch and super and then go back to the room,’ the guest house manager told this website.
The manager also noted that they started suspecting something had gone wrong when they knocked on Ogwal’s door and there was no response.
‘We knocked on his door in the morning wanting to clean the room as usual. We however couldn’t hear him respond this time. We gave it a break and tried knocking several other times in vain. It was until we forcefully forced the door open that we found him lying dead,’ the Blue moon manager added.
Police have confirmed the incident and say investigations into Ogwal’s death are underway.
The Police PRO, East Busoga, Diana Nandaula confirmed that Ogwal drank poison that eventually took his life.
“The records show that he booked into the hotel on Sunday. He however, did not indicate where he came from,” Nandaula said.
By the time of filing this story, Ogwal’s body was still at Iganga Main hospital where it was taken for postmortem.
