The three officials of Kongunga Town Council in Bukedea district who were last week locked out of their offices have apologized to the area Councilors.
The trio, Emmanuel Elimu Town Clerk, David Ojono, Community Development Officer and the Town Council Engineer, Stephen Ogwangu was on Friday locked out of office by angry councilors. The Councilors were accusing them of mismanaging funds worth 40 million shillings meant for community road opening.
The apologies were submitted during the district engagement meeting held at the council chambers and chaired by the district chairperson, Moses Olemukan yesterday 6th March, 2022.
Emmanuel Elimu, the town clerk upon submitting apologies, asked the councilors together with community members for cooperation.
He said officers engaged in corruption will be brought to book and he clarified that all the town council accountabilities should be available to all members in the council.
“I want to apologize for the mistakes we have committed, but please forgive us, and let us work together,” said Mr. Elimu.
Gabriel Ejukat, the LCIII chairperson cautioned the accused officers to filter out the corrupt behaviors.
“We are ready to forgive you as per now but never repeat such acts,” said Mr. Ejukat.
However, Moses Olemukan the district chairperson who finally reopened the locked offices appealed for unity amongst technical staff and the politicians.
