Olaboro, Namisindwa District CAO in Hot Soup over Botched Recruitment of New Staff

The Namisindwa Chief Administrative Officer is facing a legal challenge over unclear circumstances under which a civil servant who was recruited by the District Service Commission was later sacked.

Franco Olaboro has been taken on by Juliet Nambuya who was sacked after she had been posted to Namisindwa Town Council as a Principal Town Agent.

In a letter addressed to Olaboro by Nabende and Company Advocates dated 19th April 2022, Nambuya is asking for a judicial review claiming that her position was given to another person.

“By this communique, we demand that you forthwith redeploy our client and further pay a sum of Shs 3,000,000 being our professional fees,” a letter of intention to sue seen by this website reads in part.

It further warns that should the CAO fail to heed to their demand, they will have no option but to sue for judicial review.

According to Nambuya, when she reported to Namisindwa Town Council having been posted by the CAO, the Town Clerk declined to receive Nambuya claiming that a person with similar names had already reported for duty.

Nambuya further alleges that when she went back to the CAO, she was told that besides sharing names, she had presented papers from a blacklisted institute (Magale Business Institute) and that according to the National ID NIN, it was the other Nambuya who was duly appointed and not her.

However, Nambuya now avers that she has never attended Magale Business Institute nor did she present papers from that institute.

“Be advised that our client has never attended Magale Business Institute as you alleged and that she presented duly certified academic transcript of Institute of Accounts and Vocational School-Kyotera,” Nabende Advocates argue.

Nambuya claims that despite reaching out to the office of the Chief Administrative Officer and the District Chairperson on the matter, she was not helped. She now wants to seek redress in the court.

Efforts to get a comment from Olaboro on the matter were futile as he told our reporter that he was busy and therefore not able to comment on the matter. He later hang up.

Namisindwa District Local Government has been in the news lately on allegations of corruption in the recruitment of civil servants.
