Youth leaders from the Elgon sub region have asked the President to fulfill the pledge he made to them during the 2021 campaigns.
They made these remarks over the weekend during the Elgon regional youth conference of 2022 at Mbale secondary school while giving their memorandum to first Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Affairs, Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga.
While reading the memorandum, Bryan Mawuso, the Elgon region youth chairperson said that during the campaign of 2021 general elections, President Museveni promised to give youths of Elgon region a brand new tractor, involving them in government programs, bursaries, giving them capital to self-employ themselves among others.
He said that it’s now two years since elections but they have not yet seen any pledges being fulfilled yet youths from other regions are benefiting a lot from this government.
Mauso urged Kadaga to take their memorandum to the President so that he can be reminded of what he pledged.
Kadaga however called for calm among the youths saying that government is going to work on the pledges.
She warned youths against being used by politicians who have their own selfish personal interests to demonstrate but use the prevailing peace which was brought by the NRM government to work hard and fight poverty.
