The Bukedea acting Town Clerk has been kicked out of office by angry councilors who accuse him of misappropriating Shs15 million.

Councillors during the council sitting on 31st August 2022

Vincent Akol, was booted yesterday 31st August, 2022 during a Council Sitting chaired by the Council Speaker, Hellen Amunyo.

The decision was made when Akol failed to give a comprehensive report on the funds withdrawn from the town council account claiming to have facilitated a tour of three officers to Koboko district.

Among the officers allegedly facilitated are, Vincent Akol, Mr. Sam Engole LCIII chairperson and Mr. Charles Opio the town treasurer.

Amunyo said the acting town clerk was kicked out of the office in order to give room for the finance committee to investigate.

“We have kicked him out of the office in order to give room for the committee to investigate, over time whenever we ask for a report, the acting town clerk keeps on dodging or sometimes gives half-baked reports,”,said Ms. Amunyo.

Phiminah Apolot, Lilian Agwang and some of the councillors said they are not ready to continue working with Mr. Akol and are asking the Chief Administrative Officer to send them another town clerk.

Meanwhile Akol when reached for a comment, denied the accusations.

Sam Engole, the Bukedea town council LCIII chairperson when asked for a comment refused to talk saying it was the decision of the council together with the Speaker who chaired the meeting.
