SOROTI CITY
The territorial police of Soroti CPS have arrested the leadership of a networking company called Global alliance in Atooti at 10:00am within Soroti City for carrying out an illegal training and recruitment exercise.
According to police, 30 recruiters, trainers and trainees were arrested on Wednesday, 21st September 2022.
Some of the recruiters who were arrested include Aziz Simon Enock Edwo from Serere district, Atinyi Edward from Mbarara district, Emagu William from Kaberamaido district, and Nakato Fiona Adyeri from Masindi district.
SP Ageca Oscar Gregg the PRO of East Kyoga said in a press statement that the arrest was occasioned through intelligence which allowed them to mount an operation at Atooti within Soroti City where they arrested the leaders of Global Alliance.
Ageca says the suspects had recruited people from Busoga, Lira, Soroti, Pallisa and other places within Uganda under the guise of offering them well-paying jobs at a fee and were undergoing training for the alleged job opportunities that Global alliance had secured for them.
“A total of about 30 persons inclusive of the trainers and the trainees who had gathered at the venue for the training have been detained at CPS Soroti.” Ageca added.
Ageca further revealed that all individuals who were illegally recruited and trained had been made to pay between nine hundred thousand shillings (900,000/=) and one million and three hundred thousand shillings (1,300,000/=).
“We appeal to the public to be wary of unsolicited promises of Jobs, money and privileges that are not earned as this can lead them to being conned off their hard earned monies, or trafficked for the benefit of unscrupulous persons,” Ageca said in the statement.
He further added that they shall provide updates on the instant case after sorting all victims from the perpetrators and active participants of this scheme.
It should also be noted that on the 30th June,2022 Police in Soroti arrested officials of M-Global Alliance for fraudulently extorting money from unsuspecting members of the public at Hyde Park bar along Soroti – Moroto road in Soroti City East division while conducting a training of about 270 new entrants reported to have recently subscribed to the organization.
