Katakwi DHO Reveals Availability of Covid-19 Vaccines

KATAKWI

 

The District Health Office of Katakwi District has told the general public about the existence of the COVID 19 vaccines that are aimed at benefiting the community.

 

Dr Simon Icumar Omeke, the Katakwi District Health Officer said that they have set their tools of work to enable the activity run well.

 

Omeke said the vaccines have been distributed to all the health facilities in the district adding that, all eligible people are encouraged to go for the vaccination at their nearest health facility.

 

“Even children aged 12-17 years can receive the vaccines,” Dr. Omeke said.

 

“Please inform and encourage your neighbors to go to the nearest health facility for the Jab because its important to get it” Omeke.

 

Relatedly; currently the health team in Katakwi has hit the ground to fight Tuberculosis in the communities across the district.

The VHTs, Vincent Okwi from Pioneer Village in Omodoi sub county, Robert Aturo from Akalele village in Angodingod sub county, Oberu Basil-Otala from Agulei in Amusia sub county among others say they were trained on how to create awareness to the public and also how to pick samples from the persons adding that all the people of Katakwi need to be tested.

“We can easily identify a TB suspect through different signs and symptoms,” the VHTs said.

 

Meanwhile the District health officer for Katakwi, Dr. Simon Icumar-Omeke said that, the move follows the world health organization’s goal to eliminate Tuberculosis (TB) by year 2030.

 

The campaign will take five days in Katakwi ending this week.
