IGANGA
Government has released Shs10 billion to facilitate Persons with Disabilities SACCOs across the country.
This was revealed by the Minister of Labour, Gender and Social Development, Betty Amongi yesterday, 27th September 2022 while delivering Shs70million grant to Iganga PWDs Saccos.
Amongi who delivered the money at a PWD function held at Iganga Municipal Council Primary school said each Sacco in Iganga will have a share of 15 million and will benefit a total of 15 Sacco groups. She said this FY, government has released 10bn for PWDS across the country.
The Minister for PWDs, Asamo Grace Mary asked government to offer equal job opportunities to PWDS at all levels. She said at district level, people with PWDS should be recruited as interpreters of sign language further asking government to construct schools for PWDS to allow them access to learning.
The Mayor Iganga Municipal Council, Lulenzi Bamu, reminded the two Ministers about the construction of 15km road and Iganga market. Its only Saaza Road which is under construction and the other KMs are still remaining including the market.
