Police in Bukedea Central Police Station in Bukedea district have arrested a senior one student together with his father for possessing 27 Ak47 bullets.
The student identified as Paul Anguria 18 years, of St. Theresa SS Okunguro in Bukedea town council and his father, Charles Muriat both residents of Kasechi village, Malera Sub County in Bukedea district were arrested on Tuesday 1st November, 2022.
Anguria was intercepted on 1st, Nov 2022 around 1600hrs when he reported to school by the school guard whereby three live ammunition of Ak 47 rifle were found in his bag at the school gate.
“As usual, the school crosschecks students’ bags as they report to school but unfortunately, in his bag were discovered three live bullets of Ak 47 rifle,” a source told this reporter.
One of the teachers who asked not to be named said, the student alleges that he was taking the bullets for his friend at school who wanted to know how the bullets look like. Anguria also added that he got the bullets inside his father’s house being kept in an Engine Oil container inside a drum.
“We became concerned after realizing that the live ammunition is new, so we reported the case to police for further management,” said the teacher.
Police immediately intervened and visited Anguria’s father’s home for a search whereby more 24 ammunition of Ak-47 were recovered.
Oscar Gregory Ageca, the East Kyoga Police Spokesperson confirmed the arrests today’s morning saying investigations are underway.
Meanwhile, the two suspects; son and father are still detained at Bukedea central police station. A case to investigate this matter was opened vide SD ref: 54/01/11/2022.
