The next Presidential elections maybe 4 years away, but Members of Parliament from Bugisu sub region have started positioning one of their own for the top most job in the country.
Members of Parliament from Bugisu region took advantage of the fundraising ceremony for North Mbale Diocese that took place on Sunday, 6th November, 2022 in Sironko to rally support for FDC’s Nathan Nandala.
Led by John Baptist Nambeshe, MP for Manjiya County in Sironko, also Opposition Chief Whip and member of National Unity Platform, the MPs said people from Bugisu region are tired of always supporting candidates from other regions.
Nathan Nandala Mafabi is the Budadiri West Legislator in Sironko district and Secretary General of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Party.
“In the next election, we have plans of fronting Nandala and all legislators and people from the eastern region are ready to back him,” Nambeshe said.
John Musila MP for Bubulo East Constituency in Namisindwa district urged all Bamasaba to unanimously back Nandala if fronted in next election.
He adds that most regions in Uganda have had presidents but this time eastern and Bugisu region in particular, must be given chance.
Isaiah Sasaga Wanzira, the MP for Budadiri East Consistency in Sironko district says that as Bugisu parliamentary caucus, they are going to sit and discuss this matter before 2026 general election.
