No More Creation of New Administrative Units – MINISTER MAGYEZI

By Weswa Ronnie

The Minister of Local Government, Raphael Magyezi has told local district Council Speakers not to waste time debating creation of new administrative Units because government has put a ban to it.

Magyezi said this while addressing hundreds of district speakers and their deputies at Mbale district head offices located at Malukhu in Mbale City over the weekend during the Uganda District Council Speakers Association (UDCOSA) Annual General Meeting.

According to Magyezi, government has directed all district and sub county councils not to deliberate on the issue of creating new administrative units since government is not ready to grant more constituencies, districts and sub counties.

The minister says that right now government is prioritizing service delivery but not creating more administrative unit which are going to give them a burden terms of staffing and funding.

Meanwhile, Muhamed Mafabi, the LCV chairperson of Mbale district urged government to construct offices for district speakers and deputies such that they can execute their duties well.
