JUST IN: Lake Victoria Airplane Crash Kills 19

A Plane belonging to Precision Air that crashed into Lake Victoria in Bukoba in Tanzania’s Kagera region at about 8:53am on Sunday, 6th November, 2022 has so far killed 19 people.

 

The number of fatalities so far was confirmed by a national Television this morning, 7th November, 2022.

 

According to a press statement issued by Precision Air, the aircraft, 5H-PWF, A TR42-500 was flying form Dar es- Salaam to Bukoba when the accident occurred.

 

Management also confirmed that there were 39 passengers (38 Adults and 1 infant) and 4 crew members aboard the flight. 19 of these are now said to have died in the accident.

 

Images of locals in two boats trying to rescue the passengers are awash in the social media. Precision Air however said in a statement that “A team of specially trained Precision Air personnel and Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority are on their way to Bukoba to provide whatever assistance that may be required at the scene.”

 

Details of the actual number of casualties will be provided in the next update by Precision Air.

 

Precision Air is a private company with 58% of the company being owned by Tanzanians, 41% Kenya Airways and 1% by other nationals. The anchor shareholders, being Kenya Airways and local Tanzanian businessman.
