IGANGA
State minister for ICT Joyce Sebugwawo has ordered all encroachers on land belonging to Posta Uganda to vacate within the next two weeks to pave way for development.
Ssebugwawo gave the directive yesterday 8th November, 2022 while on a tour of Iganga district POSTA Uganda offices along the main highway.
Sebugwawo said over 500 people have previously encroached on land belonging to the corporation doing all sorts of businesses and now it’s time to carry out development to ensure Ugandans benefit from the Services.
Sebugwawo said in a bid to rebrand the organization, government intends to carry out a nationwide exercise to revamp POSTA Uganda so that people in rural areas benefit from services other than travelling to Kampala.
She said anyone who fails to adhere to the regulations to vacate risks being arrested and prosecuted before courts of law.
Sebugwawo had earlier met Iganga district officials at the Iganga district chambers before heading to the field.
She said she has so far moved to five districts in a bid to improve in ICT at all POSTA Uganda offices to ensure locals benefit from the good services.
The regional manager POSTA Uganda said the number of clients had reduced as a result of the COVID 19 outbreak.
He said revamping of the POSTA Uganda will help improve services to the people by bringing services closer.
