MBALE CITY
Sino Uganda Mbale Industrial Park has launched a multi-billion Electric meter making Factory.
The launch took place on Saturday, 19th November, 2022 at Mbale Sino Industrial Park.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Johnson, the General Manager Chint Meters & Electrical Uganda Co. Ltd, said the Factory has cost up to 500.000 US dollars and employs 30 people with an output of over 300,000 meters per year on the 2000 square meter factory.
He noted that this is the first meter assembling factory in Uganda but promised that the output is set to go high with time as the factory grows.
Dr. Patrick Bitature, the Executive Director of UMEME applauded President Yoweri Museveni and Tian Tang Group for spearheading the Industrial revolution in Uganda.
‘I must really thank H.E, the President for entrusting this Tian Tang Group and giving them this land which was redundant to make such great developments here. This is Really Wonderful.’ He noted.
He noted that the local manufacture of Electrical Meters shall reduce on the complaints registered by consumers on imported electricity meters.
Dr. Butature said that the Factory will not only increase production and reduce on shortages but will also create employment to the local population.
As per the Executive Director Uganda National Bureau of Standards, David Livingstone Ebiru, the Sino Mbale Uganda Industrial Park now accommodates 27 factories employing over 15,000 people both Nationals and Internationals.
He also praised that Quality of the Electricity Meters noting that they fit International Standards and can be used by the final consumers comfortably without complaints. He also noted that faulty or substandard meters affect both the Supply companies like UMEME and also the Consumer.
Ebiru also assured the Investors that Government had a plan in place of discouraging imported products which are already manufactured in Uganda as a way of creating market for the local products.
Of recent, Uganda lacked Electric meters which were being shipped to Uganda due to quality related issues. He says this shall reduce the inconveniences caused by imported goods.
The Resident City Commissioner Mbale, John Rex Achilla, commended Government for providing a peaceful environment for the investors to make such incredible developments but appealed to the City Authorities to tighten Security at the Park and ensure that the employees and investors are far from harm.
Ahamada Washaki who has been the RCC Mbale and now the RDC Kumi praised the Chinese investors for their hospitality and good relationship with Local Authorities and Government at large plus the neighboring Communities.
