NAMISINDWA
There was drama at Namisindwa district council when a section of councilors accused their counterparts of forging their signatures as they petitioned the Speaker over delayed council sittings.
The irate councilors accused Emma Bwayo, male youth councilor and Marion Lunyolo, female councilor for workers for allegedly appending their names in the petition and also forging their signatures.
Last Month, some councilors led by Bwayo and Lunyolo petitioned Namisindwa district speaker Dorothy Wolukawu for taking over six months without holding council and committee sittings, something they said paralyzed service delivery.
While speaking during the council meeting held yesterday, 22nd December, 2022, Alex Mulokoyi, councilor representing Bukiabi Sub County accused the two of forging names of some councilors including his name with the aim of putting them at loggerheads and tarnishing their names before the speaker.
He adds that they want the speaker to give appropriate punishments to these two councilors such that others can learn.
Dorothy Wolukawu, the Namisindwa district speaker has asked the resident district commissioner’s office to investigate the two councilors.
She described their actions as impersonation and criminal. She was to adjuorn the council until after the investigation report.
However, Emma Bwayo, the male youth councilor described the Speaker as a person who wants to use threats and stop councilors from exercising their rights.
Bwayo adds that he and his other councilors are not willing to bow down before the speaker since they are acting within the law and are fighting for their voters.
