Teso’s renowned voice joker, Shaban Abas popularly known as VJ genius has pinned several unauthorized movie outlets in Teso for the downfall of different voice jokers in the region.
While having an interview with this website, VJ genius explained that most times vjs’ put time translating movies in the local language (ateso) with hopes of reaping out of it but movie outlet owners also buy and later make several copies thus reaping more than the translators.
“We fail to achieve as much from the work yet other people make millions out of our sweat, this has even made some VJs to close their shops and venture into other businesses,” he explained.
He further called upon the community of Teso to learn to support and buy movies directly from the vjs’ so that they grow thus getting motivated to work.
VJ genius who was born and bred in campswahili ward in Soroti City, attributes his success to the almighty God, Dr VJ sultan his mentor as he has also been able to open up a movie selling out let in campswahili ward where he has employed one person whom he pays monthly and three boys paid part timely for doing his post production.
“I have been able to pay my school bills even though am under a scholarship under Ariko foundation and am hoping to graduate from Kyambogo Varsity (Soroti) this year,” he added.
VJ genius advises youth to find something that they can do than being idle and stop belittling movie translators and other artists as non-benefiting jobs yet it’s them to support one another.
