Police in Mbale district has recovered one machine gun which was stolen at Bungokho police post last year.
In November last year, unknown people broke into the police post of Bungokho located at Bungokho sub-county in Mbale district and went with one machine gun and a radio call.
According to Asumine Nasike, the Mbale Resident District Commissioner (RDC), the gun was discovered on Tuesday 31st January, 2023 night by police at Nabumali Town Council.
Nasike revealed that the gun was got with one suspect only identified as Ivan, a resident of Nabumali town council by police night patrol carrying it.
Nasike also says that the suspect is currently detained at Mbale Central Police Station (CPS) to help police recover the radio call and that he will be taken to court martial to answer charges of illegal possession of firearms.
