BUKEDEA
The right Honourable Speaker of the 11th, Parliament, Annet Among Anita yesterday afternoon 2nd, Feb 2023 rewarded the best primary leaving examination performers in year 2022 in Bukedea district.
The district registered a total of 198 pupils in Division one in both private and government primary schools.
Mr. Stephen Okurut, the acting district education officer Bukedea said the district registered 6,191pupils to sit for 2022 PLE exams and out of 6,191 pupils, 198 obtained the first grade, 2,112 second grade, 1,666 third grade, 1038 fourth grade and 1120 division U.
“In year 2022 we as Bukedea have registered great progress in PLE results compared to 2020, this year we have got 198 pupils in division one and last year we got 130 in first grade”, said Mr. Okurut.
Mr. Okurut also added that in the 2022 PLE exam, 57 pupils missed to sit for the exams.
“We also registered a case whereby 57 pupils missed the exams and the cause is not clear,” added Mr. Okurut.
Mr. Maira Joseph Mukasa, the Bukedea Chief Administration Officer said the progress is due to teacher engagement with pupils.
“As a district, we promoted the acting head teachers to the position of head teachers in order to fill the teaching gaps,” said Mr. Mukasa.
Professor Jonas Gumisiriza who represented the Right Honourable Speaker Hon Annet Among Anita handed to each pupil who scored ist grade, one mattress and pocket money of Shs100,000.
“This support is from the Speaker and she says that she will continue to support education,” said Prof Gumisiriza.
