The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has spoken out on social media rumors that the notorious anti-President Museveni blogger, Fred Lumbuye died in the deadly Turkey earthquake.
The clarification was made in a 10th February, 2023 press statement issued by the Ministry to address issues related to the plight of Ugandans in the Turkey.
According to the statement, no Ugandan has died in the world’s deadliest earthquake that has so far claimed lives of over 22,000 people.
“The Ministry further wishes to clarify that there are no reported deaths of any Ugandans and the information circulating on Social Media platforms relating to the death of Mr. Fred Lumbuye as a result of this earthquake is not true,” reads in part the statement.
However, 3 Ugandans were affected by the earthquake in Diyarbakr where one sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment in Malatic City. The Ugandan who is not named is responding well according to the statement.
