The Right Honorable Speaker of the 11th, Parliament, Anet Among Anita who doubles as the Woman Member of Parliament Bukedea has launched distribution of scholastic materials to support pupils across Bukedea district.
The distribution was launched on 9th, Feb 2023 at Apopong primary school in Kolir Sub County in Bukedea district headed by the deputy Resident District Commissioner, Yeko Bulubulu.
The distribution exercise was launched in Mother Kolir Sub County and will be rolled out to all government primary schools across the district.
Siporah Akol, the Anita personal assistant during the distribution exercise, said the targeted pupils are those in upper primary classes.
“The Speaker learnt that most of her people in Bukedea are hard-up and they face a challenge in improvising scholastic materials to the pupils, so being a person who is focused in education and to avoid pupils being at home due to lack of books, she came in and offered a simple support of exercise books for those who are in upper primary,” said Ms. Akol.
Ms. Akol also added that the Speaker’s initiative is to motivate pupils to be at school rather than abstaining themselves.
Yeko Bulubulu, the deputy resident district commissioner Bukedea who headed the distribution exercise urged teachers to boost their effort in order to obtain better results.
“Most of the teachers believe that the government has forgotten them but I want to inform you that the government is with you so let us work for the betterment of results for our country,” said Mr. Bulubulu.
Stephen Okurut, the Bukedea District Education Officer said most of the parents hold their pupils at home due to lack of school scholastic materials.
“We want to appreciate the Right Honorable Speaker for this great initiative to support our pupils with scholastic materials, this will now boost our school performance,” said Mr. Okurut.
