The office of the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Bukedea has summoned a primary four class teacher of Akutot primary school in Kangole Sub County with the school head teacher for allegedly grading a report card of the primary four pupil without subject marks.
The class teacher has been identified as Odele while the head teacher is Edward Olupot.
Duo was summoned on Friday 10th, Feb 2023 and are expected to appear before the district security disciplinary committee today, Tuesday 14th, Feb 2023.
The two have been summoned on grounds that the class teacher graded the pupil’s report card with no mark and yet positioned him to number 36 and advised to repeat.
Third term is a promotional term under UNEB curriculum whereby all the schools across the country teach four subjects of Mathematics, English, Science and Social studies.
This publication learnt that a pupil identified as Ramazathan Adobe was given position 36 without any subject marks and fully signed and stamped by the school head teacher.
Mr. Abubakar Ibirot, the father of Adome said he was shocked that his son was given a report card with no marks.
“When my son brought this report card to me I failed to understand because marks were not there but the class teacher only advised my son to repeat primary four,” said Mr. Ibirot.
Mr. Ibirot also added that when he interrogated his son, he told him that the class teacher denied him marks because he did not submit a sweeping groom.
Yeko Bulubulu, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner Bukedea says the two were summoned to appear before the disciplinary committee for negligence of office duties.
“It’s the duty of the class teacher and the school head teacher to ensure that each pupil’s report is graded with marks, so in this case, the two must appear before the security disciplinary committee due on Tuesday”, said Mr. Bulubulu.
Stephen Okurut, the Bukedea District Education Officer today Monday 13th, Feb 2023 said the role of the school head teacher is to cross check all report cards before appending his signature and the office stamp.
“I was shocked when the Deputy Resident District Commissioner contacted me that the Akutot class teacher issued a pupil a report card with no marks, this shows negligence of office roles, so we want to meet them and ask why they did that”, said Mr. Okurut.
