The body of Florence Babirye, a Ugandan who got killed by the Turkey/Syria earthquake has been repatriated back home.
The sending off of the body from Instabul Airport was witnessed today, 17th March, 2023 by H.E Nusura Tiperu, Uganda’s Ambassador to Turkey accompanied by other Uganda Community leaders.
On February 6, the earthquake struck Turkey and Syria leaving more than 40,000 people dead.
Babirye is the only Ugandan known to have died in the earthquake. She was buried in Turkey.
Florence Babirye was buried by rubble after the building she was staying in collapsed in an earthquake that rocked the European country last week.
Earlier, the parents of the deceased had cried out to government to help them raise Shs10 million to help them repatriate the body of their daughter.
