KITUTU IRON SHEETS SAGA: Police Hunting to Arrest Minister’s 5 Close Family Members

By Our Reporter

The office of Director of Public Prosecutions has revealed names of close family members of Karamoja Affairs Minister, Mary Goretti Kiututu who are currently on the run.

This was revealed by the Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, Josephine Namatovu on Thursday, 6th April while at the Anti-Corruption Court where Kitutu was charged and remanded to Luzira Prisons.

Namatovu told the court presided over by Chief Magistrate, Joan Aciro that the close family members are; Kitutu’s son, Philemon Weganga, Jeniffer Amongin (sister-in-law), Lydia Namutosi (niece), Steven Wabwire (nephew), and Winfred Ndagire (daughter-in-law).

Namatovu said the five are accomplices and key suspects in the case where Kitutu is charged of causing loss of public property when she occasioned the diversion of iron sheets meant to benefit the Karamoja Community Development Program.

Prosecution alleges that Kitutu diverted the said iron sheets to her own benefit and to the benefit of Third Parties having reason to believe that such act would result into loss of public property.
