A fatal motor vehicle accident has claimed the life of a National Water & Sewerage Cooperation Water Engineer, his wife and two children.
According to ASP Faridah Nampiima, PRO Traffic and Road Safety, the fatal accident occurred yesterday, 7th April, 2023 at about 4:00PM at Kyoja Trading Centre along the Masaka-Mbarara highway.
Nampiima says the accident claimed the lives of 9 people who all died on the spot and were occupants of UBL 314C an Alphad.
The accident involved motor vehicle registration number UBL 314C an Alphad, that was traveling from Kampala side heading to Mbarara and motor vehicle reg no SSD 327S/SSD 137Q that was from Mbarara/Kinoni town.
The two motor vehicles had a head on collision. Preliminary findings indicate that the alphard driver was at high speed and was keeping right, where he crashed head on with the fuel tanker killing nine people on spot who were passengers in the alphard. The deceased include, seven adults and two juveniles
The driver of the fuel truck and his turn man, sustained injuries and were rushed for treatment in Masaka referral hospital. More Inquiries into the incident are underway and more details will be availed in due course.
Information reaching this website is that the driver was an Engineer with NWSC Managing Water Network in Kampala only identified as Baale with a young Family of two. The others are; his younger brother, an engineer at UBl, his wife and the kids.
