A police officer attached to Naguru headquarters has been lynched by an angry mob in Budaka.
The deceased identified as Wakulu Sedulaki resident of Lyama Village, Lyama Sub County in Budaka District was killed on the night of 9th April, 2023.
Immaculate Alaso, the police spokesperson of North Bukide region told our reporter that the incident happened last night at 4.00am at Nampagala village, Lyama Sub County in Budaka district.
According to Alaso, a resident found the deceased standing in front of a shop belonging to Ivan Okoboi last night in none uniform.
Suspecting him to be a robber, the resident made an alarm that attracted the attention of others who responded with pangas, stones, sticks, bricks among others.
She added that in the process, the deceased took off but was chased by the mob that continued beating him despite the fact that he identified himself as a police officer by showing them the ID.
However, police has warned the public against holding laws in their hands saying it has started an investigation to get people who were behind to be arrested.
